Ashes, Ashes...

If you can't tell, ^^^ is a picture of my forehead.  That sort of dusted, darker part is a cross of ashes.  It is now officially Lent.  It's basically the time where Catholics try to make all of their New Years resolutions a reality.

In all seriousness though, this is the time of year to really appreciate everything God has done for us.  (Ahemm...DYING!!!!OPENING UP ETERNAL SALVATION FOR US UNWORTHY BEINGS!!!)

"From dust you came, and to dust you shall return."  Really makes our mortality painfully obvious, doesn't it?  It can definitely make an impact on you if you let it.

My favorite part of Ash Wednesday is that cross.  It shows the world Who I belong to.  It tells the world that I am His and He is mine.  Only in Dying, will I find true Salvation.

Everyone sees Ash Wednesday as a day of "fasting" and "mourning."   But it's really not!  It's a day to grow closer to God and grow to be who you were meant to be, which in the end leads to true happiness.

God Bless!

Peace!
