First of all, it's official...I have THE CUTEST baby brother in the world!!!!! OK, so he's TECHNICALLY not a baby, he's more than a year old and he just walked across the living room by himself today...granted he had just had a ton of chocolate...no inspiration like chocolate, right?
Today I had to babysit him for a little while and he got into my little sister's stocking...let's just say I'm shocked he hasn't succumbed to a sugar coma yet! Oi vey!
Lucia, oh my goodness, that child. She cracks me up. The things she says at 3 years old...I don't know where she gets them! Today, after church, she was thirsty so, being the incredibly helpful big sister that I am, I helped her get water at the drinking fountain. About 10 minutes later, she marches up to my mom and I and pulls the neck of her coat down to reveal a small water mark on her t-shirt.
"MAMA! Look! I have CITY WATER on my SHIRT!" Here she turned and pointed at me, "Because YOU did it!" And she marched indignantly away. City water??? OK, kiddo! See if I help you get water again! Just thinking about that kid makes me smile.
When it comes to intense bursts of energy, Sofia really does take the cake. She burst into the house after her tutoring today and just starts going off a mile a minute about God only knows what, her prize (APAPER,STYROFOAM,ANDSTICKCHRISTMASTREE!!!!BUTTHEYHADTOUSEBLACKPAPERFORSOMEOFITBECAUSETHEYWEREOUTOFBROWN!!!!)
I honestly have quite the time trying to figure out what she's saying most of the time. I guess it doesn't really matter if I do or not because that ball of energy is happy enough if you appear vaguely interested, ask a few questions here and there and are completely astounded by her amazingness. She's the type of kid who literally pulled out her other front tooth simply so she could sing "All I Want For Christmas Is My Two Front Teeth."
Though I'd never admit it, I'm vaguely jealous of Gianna. I mean, at the end of the day, I'd rather be me and sometimes she annoys the crud out of me. But she's 10 years old, already an intense gymnast whose coach is filming her demonstrate some skill or another and sending it to another coach in Arizona. She has intense conditioning/skill-building several times a week and I can see her and all her drive and energy and talent going places some day. Oh, and I forgot to mention, she's a freaking whiz at school!!! "Some people just walk in the light, you know?" (She's The Man). Couldn't say it better myself!
Francesca....what words to describe Francesca? She's your typical 13-year-old...trying to figure out where she fits, not quite one of the "big-kids" but DEFINITELY not one of the younger kids. She's got the popularity and athleticism that draws people to her. Honestly, I personally don't remember having friends everywhere I turned in middle school! Actually though....I think I only had one real friend in middle school...by choice! Also, I don't know what it is with middle-schoolers now...but I swear she has at least 4 guys who are just drooling all over her. Two even got in a fight over her the other day...that's just how it is with my sisters I guess though.
Isabella. She's everything the name implies. She's got a good 2 inches on me even though she's a solid 2 years and 2 months younger than me. She's got a lot of prospects as a future killer middle hitter for volleyball. She's tall, long limb-ed..granted, she's gangly, but she'll grow into herself eventually. School doesn't come easily to her, in fact, right now she's off taking a Geometry final that she has no confidence of doing well on. But she is one of the most creative, imaginative, witty, fun people I have ever met. She's so stunning in both personality and appearance. She hasn't even fully bloomed yet and you can tell, just by looking at her that once she grows into her long arms and legs, loses the braces and gains the confidence that age aids...she's going to awe the world.
Gabriella. Well, Gabrielle, really...but I'll call her whatever I want. She IS my big sister after all. She's two years older than me and may very well be the luckiest person I have ever met. Just the other day, she and her friends BY CHANCE ran into an NBA player, scored tickets to a game vs. the KNICKS and are now in communication with a PRO BALLER. For a sports-major, this is like heaven. For me, this is misery. I love basketball. Gabs?? Mehh. She doesn't really care either way. So here I am, dying as I hear of her luck in this AND the free tickets she scored to some AHL games (2 this week alone). Gabry might even be going to Ireland Fall semester 2013 for an internship. Not to mention she's graduating this spring (2 years early I might add!) just because she can. She certainly walks in the light. And though I pretend to not sometimes, I love her so much. I don't think any girl should go without a big sister...and I'm glad I have her!
My parents. Wow. Words cannot describe. My dad is the most hard-working man I have ever met. He's also the most family-oriented. The things he does for us because he loves us floors me. Daddy's girl? Yeah, I guess I am. But how could I not be? He's always looking out for us and is a perfect example of what a father should be. Not to mention the example he sets for us by how he treats my mom. They've been married for 20 years now and she's still "My bride" to him. It's incredible. Yeah, when he gets mad, I'd like to pull an ostrich and stick my head in the ground, but nobody's perfect!
And my MOM! She home schools 4 of the 5 of us who are in primary or secondary education. Sofia is a special case, as I've said and is tutored. My mom also helps run a lot of the local home school church sports team program that half of us are in, drives the rest to their separate sports/activities and finds the time to work out daily, including preparing for a marathon! She also (after 8 children) weighs less than she did at her wedding. My parents...I should thank God for them every second!
Me...well...eh, I'm not that interesting!! So just sit back in awe of the rest of my family and forget about me for now.
Peace!!
