Oh The Things Kids Do #8

The weekly mash-up??

Sofia: Mama, are you SURE Chica's not adopted????

Now, if you've ever seen Wallace and Grommit, you know they talk funny.  Well, my family is slightly obsessed with Wallace and Grommit at the moment.
The other day Lulu asked, "Can we watch Woolace and Groomet?" (I'm attempting to type out her pronunciation and failing miserably, work with me here and use your imagination!)

As I was finishing my work-out the other day, Lulu ran in,
"Can I work out with you???"
Me: "Oh I just finished!  Sorry!"
Lulu: (wailing) "YOU'RE SO MEAN TO ME!!!! I'M NEVER GIVING YOU A MASSAGE* EVER AGAIN!!!"

And here is an adorable video of Anthony helping my mom sort through old newspapers.  Towards the end you can hear him saying, "Here ya go!"  What a babe! ;-)

And that's been (most of) this week at the Faraj home!

Peace!

*Note: I have never received a massage from this four-year-old little punk and have NO idea what she is referring to! ;)

A Snow Day or NOT A Snow Day

This was the question in the minds of all Michiganders last night.  (OH MY GOSH, FYI, "Michigander"??  It's a real word).

I spent all night mentally preparing for a day of relaxation, tea, coffee, food, maybe a run on the tread, a good book...essentially??  AWESOMENESS.  Just because my mother warned me to be cautious, I set my alarm for 7AM and kept my phone near-by to ensure easy access to the internet for the final call at 6AM this morning.

7 o'clock?  My alarm sounded (Blane and Allison in the morning...good stuff).  I scramble around a bit, in enormous amounts of pain from my work out yesterday, and finally grab a hold of my phone.  Through bleary eyes, I manage to remember my password.  The first thing my phone opens is a text from one of my friends.  "Ahhh wait so Ann Arbor school district is closed....Why is HSC NOT?!"  At this point, I am almost in tears...after all of my preparation, after ALL of my plans!!!  THIS?!  NO!!!!!!!

"BELLA!! GET UP!!! WE HAVE HSC!!!"

Bella jumps out of bed and starts yelling at me, "LET'S JUST SKIP!!!" and other, unpleasant things...

Just to be sure, I checked my email, the only message I have?  The subject:  NO HSC!!

I didn't even bother to read the email, so I reset my alarm and rolled over and went back to sleep.  Tragedy averted.  It would have been such a shame for all of my planned laziness and procrastination to have gone to waste.

I got some school done, had a good run, went and got lunch with my momma...it's been a good day.  As much as I DREAD the thought of school being prolonged via Make-up days??  I would have probably cried had nature opted with NOT a Snow Day.

Here's to you, dear snow!  As much as I hate you and want it to be Spring, I had a wonderful day.

Peace!

Pride Goes Before Fall

Ah, these words which we are all WELL acquainted with, I'm sure.  The thing is, most of us probably think to ourselves, "Well, I'm not REALLY prideful."  And thus, lie ourselves into false, ignorant oblivion.

Lately, I have been extremely prideful, unfortunately.  Just the other day, I was bragging about how I was getting good grades in Chemistry and how I could just rely on my grades from last semester to get me through this semester.  I got a wake-up call this morning when I went online to check my grades.  It's far lower than I thought and expected it to be.

Also, I've been able to get away with pushing the dress code at the home school co-op I go to because most of the mom's love me...or so I thought.  Don't get me wrong, a lot of the mom's/teachers still really like me.  But apparently I can no longer get away with wearing shorts that are mid-thigh length to volleyball (the dress code states that shorts must be at LEAST two inches above the knee....not 4) even though other girls wore much shorter shorts.

I guess when we get a little too big headed and think too highly of ourselves, God does his duty and knocks us back into place.  I really need to step-up my work ethic in Chemistry for the last 2 months of school and try and beat senioritis as best I can.  I also need to try and be respectful of rules, even if they're abso-fricken-lutely redonkulous.

Well, "the meek will inherit the land and enjoy great peace" (Psalm 37:11).  Guess I better work on keeping up the "meekness" I'm feeling right now!!

Remember, "We come nearest to the great when we are great in humility." Roger that, Mr. Rabindranath Tagore (whoever you are!!).

Now that ^^^ is the ultimate act of love and humility...if that doesn't floor you, I don't know what will.  Just remember that next time you start getting cocky!! ;-)

Peace!

Ba Hum Bug

I won't pretend that this will be mind-boggling awesomeness.  In fact, it will probably be the strangest compilation of random, scattered thoughts you have ever encountered.

It all started with States this weekend.  Basically, I slept not at all between sleeping on the floor, it being freezing cold, and poor Lucy (the 10 year old of my neighbors, whose hotel room I was sharing with them) who was coughing all night...I was up on the hour all night and ended up getting up at 6 to run on the treadmill with Angela (new favorite person, FYI! ;)

So we have this random opossum running (should I say staggering??) around are yard.  I'm pretty sure it's rabid (as in, HAS RABIES) because..OK, so you know the R.O.U.S. from The Princess Bride and how it can't walk right and staggers around like a drunkard??  That's what are cootie-patootie looks like.  I just decided, this very second, to name him Sir Francis.  He's so noble in appearance and stance, et cetera.

Also, I went shopping today (I HATE SHOPPING!!! MY GOSH!!!! I'D RATHER GARGLE NAILS) anyway....so I went shopping, and I have decided that it is positively reDONKulous that a bikini (which is about an INCH of material) is $20....HOW DOES THAT WORK?!?!?!  I am confused on this matter and have nothing more to say other than, "La dee FRICKEN DA!!!"

LOOK!!! I got a black eye when my team scrimmaged the JV Jaguars boy team last week...you can see the one eye is kind of swollen.  There's a picture that shows the bruise better...but for some reason, it looks like a butt and so my conscience will not allow me to post it.

FUNNY FUN FACT FOR THE DAY: To remember how to spell the word conscience, I tell myself "Con SCIENCE!!!" I don't know why.

Look at that adorable child that I saw at the State tournament.  The one on the right was a normal sized elementary student, the one on the right needs to be adopted.  By me.  Right now.  She.Is.So.Cute!!!!

Also, the final piece to my Visa puzzle is here! I will now send it off (tomorrow or Tuesday) and pray it gets turned around and back to me ASAP!!! WOOO HOOOO!!!

Anyway, it is no longer too ridiculously early to go to bed (OK, so it kinda is...I'm a wimp, go me!!!).  SO I'm gonna go to bed now...after I pack my backpack, chat with my sister, read a book and lolligag for a good while..

Peace!!

Oh The Things Kids Do #7

Honestly, there is nothing I can say to describe the insanity that is my life right now.  So I will most likely not be posting overly much for a bit.

Tomorrow at 10 (or 11) I head to God knows where for the Home School Basketball State Tournament.  And that's the icing on the cake, I won't get into details at the moment! ;)

ANYWHO, kids kids kids.

Well, there is the instance of Anthony biting Lucia's butt and making her bleed through her pants...

There's Lucia asking for "Half of the moon"....apparently this means "Clementines"...

There's Anthony saying, "Goodbye, Biting!"...

There's Anthony "crying" because we told him that biting was not acceptable....

There's Chica claiming I haven't cleaned the kitchen "in years" (even though I cleaned the whole thing by myself last night??)...

Geez la wheeze....take your pick!!! ;)

Peace!!

Anthony's face when he's trying to get sympathy looks something like this^^^

All Kinds of Damage

At times, I can't even fully voice my anger and frustration with those around me.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a generally optimistic, happy-go-lucky, sanguine person.  So basically, I rarely get angry, but when I do it's intense....but then ten minutes later, I'm good to go again!

However, there are some people who just continually get under my skin and do the most ridiculous things that I won't even detail for fear of ranting and raving and getting so riled up, disastrous events may then occur.  But there are 3-4 people in my life right now (I swear God put them there to teach me to be patient and kind to people I can't stand or get along with) who are just making LIFE very difficult for me at the moment.  I am trying, God knows I am trying, to stay patient...but it can be so difficult when I am getting emails and reminders all the time EVERYWHERE!!!!  That's kind of the huge emotionally draining nonsense I'm going through right now...

The mental damage that's going on has to do with school, my extreme lack of will/desire/energy/motivation/etc.  It's rough and NOT going well in the least.

The physical damage is 100% basketball related...I'm getting so beaten up and bruised helping prep my girls for States...I just wish I could PLAY!!!
I popped my knee out funny today, although that was while playing volleyball....and THAT hurt like crazy, let me tell you.

So I guess the moral of the story is that I am a mentally and emotionally unstable person with multiple injuries. ;)

At least, though, I am not Lulu, who (poor dear) went through a horrendously physically and emotionally traumatic instance earlier today when Anthony bit through her pants and broke skin and made her bleed.  So as bad as I have it.  It could always be worse!

Peace!

The Big 2-0

I can't believe it.

20.
TWENTY!!
Friggin TWENTY yo!!!!

Why do I keep writing 20 and WHY can't I believe it??  Well, I'm glad you asked.  You see, my big sister, Gabrielle is turning 20 today!!!

It's just kind of hard to fathom because Gabry has always just been my big sister.  It's hard to imagine that my best friend of 18 years is not even a teenager anymore!!  It's hard to believe it's been 18 years, wow.
Being sisters, we've had our differences, disagreements, arguments, brawls (no, seriously, we would beat the crap out of each other), etc., etc.  But Gabry has always been there for me, she's always more than willing to give me advice and help me out when I'm confused about anything.  She was always there when I needed a cuddle buddy (and still is and better be for FOREVER!!!).

Twenty Things I Love About Gabry: (Not necessarily in this order)
1) Her smile
2) Her sense of humor
3) Her crazy dancing skills
4) How cuddly she is (seriously, it's like cuddling a teddy bear that's trying to maul you with love! ;p)
5)  Her blog
6) How she's always there for me when I need her
7) Her obnoxious over-protectiveness (Boys, not kidding, she will kick your arse)
8) Her big, crazy plans
9) Her stories
10) Her confidence
11) Her ability to laugh at herself
12) Her treadmill skills (That's a good story)
13) How smart she is (seriously, she's WAY smarter than she gives herself credit for)
14) Her attitude
15) Her ability to be sweet/annoying all at once
16) Her exuberance
17) Her strength (physical and emotional...she's one tough cookie!)
18) Her desire for those she loves to succeed
19) Her determination
20) Even though she's not perfect, and she knows it, and even though she can be aggravating and crazy and obnoxious and even though behind all of her strength she has her own problems and issues...she is still one of the best people I know.

I LOVE YOU, GABRY!!!
She loved me from day 1...even if I wasn't so sure! ;)

This is a Halloween picture, but we've played dress-up for as long as I can remember.

She was so creative, she could make anything fun.

<3 Best Friends <3

I miss her so much and I can't wait until I get to see her in a month!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, GEEBS!

Love,
Your Little Sister

World-Wide TRAVELER

That's what I want to be....a WORLD-WIDE TRAVELER!!!

I guess now it's sinking in that I'm going to be living 15 minutes from home for the first 2 years of college, and then living AT home for the next 2, and then after THAT I have to settle in and be grown up and get a job.

Of course, I choose THIS point to decide, "I WANT TO TRAVEL THE WORLD!!! I WANT TO GO EVERYWHERE AND SEE EVERYTHING AND TRY NEW THINGS!!!"

"Well, dear self," says my brain, "the fact is, that's not really logical anymore...you're set on a plan and you're NOT allowed to deviate."

Well, me being me, I have to disagree with my brain because I DON'T LIKE BEING TOLD I CAN'T DO SOMETHING!!!!

So now of course, I'm looking into every option.  First of all, I need money for all the endeavors I'm planning!  So now I'm looking into phlebotomy certificate courses so I can earn many much DINERO and pay for my elaborate ideas.  Life, being life, is throwing a few monkey wrenches into my whole beautiful scheme, but I feel confident that things will work themselves out and that God will do what God does best.

Then, the summer of 2014, I'm hoping and praying to go up north (to a small town whose name I shall leave out of this at the moment since my plans are still budding....) and work in a hospital, rent a room and just live a quiet, different, peaceful few months.

One of my big hopes is to do the Spring Break trip to Italy(^^^^ LOOK HOW PRETTY!!!) that EMU has every year....unfortunately, this will ONLY work if I get scholarship money and/or get a job in phlebotomy!!

Anyway, I'm just so excited to figure all this out, I just had to post it...even if no one reads this...at least I've put it out there and I can stop spazzing from keeping my thrilling plans locked up inside!! (Ha ha!!!)

If you can, keep all this in your prayers as there is NO way all of my plans will work out without God's help!

Thanks!

Peace!

Oh The Things Kids Do #6

Well, I was supposed to do this yesterday...but then I forgot...and then today, I forgot the quote I was going to post.

Instead, I'm going to post a bunch of pictures and tell you all a story about a small child:

One morning, I woke up.  The sun was shining, the tank was clean...it was going to be a good day.

I had some breakfast.

Mom was pretty upset because the chocolate Dad gave her went missing, so I did some artwork to distract her.

I went to work.

After that, I was ready for some fun, so I went clubbing with the coolest kids around.

It had been a pretty full day and I was tired, so I went to bed.

The End.

So there you have it, my hideously pathetic substitution for legitimate child humor.  I apologize for my failure and I'll make sure I step it up in the future.

Peace!

Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day, Singles Awareness Day, St. Valentine's Feast Day, February 14...same thing.

This holiday is really just an excuse for couples to get all gushy with each other, spend a crap load of money, and for those who are married to have an excuse to have a date night and escape the hectic chaos of home. (Don't worry, Mama and Baba, I know you still love us!!!)

Basically, as I am single and don't see that changing any time soon, I don't have a date and (theoretically) shouldn't even bother acknowledging this stupid hallmark waste-of-a holiday.  But that's no fun!!!

SO what is I did with my hearty-heart, mushy-gushy, coupledy-couple holiday???  Well, it's a Thursday so OBVIOUSLY I did some school, but then I went and saw a chick flick with the girls (Safe Haven....totally cheesy, typical, Nicholas Sparks mush...so of course I enjoyed myself!), since I was at my place of employment (in case you didn't know, for the time being I work at a movie theater) I saw some coworkers, one of whom was astonished that no one had asked me to be his valentine and automatically offered to be mind (so sweet, Daniel, even if you do have a girlfriend and are a weirdo. Kidding!),  then I went to practice (which was actually really fun), and now I'm spending time with Christian Bale and Heath Ledger (aka watching The Dark Knight).  Overall, I'd say it was a good day, not at all disappointing!!!!

I do have to say, I've never understood this whole, "Who's your valentine?" deal.  What does that even MEAN?!  I mean, my valentine for today has a girlfriend (who, by the way, he DIDN'T ask to be his valentine)...so essentially it's a waste of time to worry about having a valentine or not.  I mean, you're either in a relationship or you're not.

For those of you who aren't, well, God loves you and so do I (for the most part.  Heh heh).  So rest in peace and I hope that you all had a fabulicious day.

Here's what I would buy if I had any money.  But since I have a minimum wage job and already suffer from two diseases, I am chocolate-less on today....the day dedicated to chocolate...I mean, love.  Of course.

Anywhootnholler, chocolate and hugs and kisses and flowers to you all!

Peace!
